Liverpool fans have hijacked Jude Bellingham’s reply to a tweet that highlighted Steven Gerrard’s ability in an attempt to convince him to move to Anfield. Bellingham has impressed at Borussia Dortmund this season after joining the Bundesliga side from Birmingham City.

The 17-year-old has become a regular in Dortmund’s midfield in his first season at the club, despite his young age.

He made 46 appearances in all competitions in the campaign just gone, scoring four goals and notching four assists.

Bellingham also played every game, including starting in the final, as Dortmund won the DFB-Pokal, their first major trophy since 2017.

Those impressive performances have seen him land a place in Gareth Southgate’s provisional squad for Euro 2020, with Bellingham expected to be included when that squad is cut down later today.

Though he only arrived at Signal Iduna Park last summer, several Premier League sides are monitoring his progress.

Manchester United were Dortmund’s main rivals for his signature last year and are understood to still be interested in a move.

Liverpool have joined United in registering an interest in the young midfielder, with Jurgen Klopp set to upgrade his options in that position this summer.

With Gini Wijnaldum departing Anfield, the Reds require a new central midfield player as they look to return to the top of the Premier League.

And Reds fans have moved to urge Bellingham to make Anfield his next port of call after he tweeted about Gerrard.

The England international quote tweeted a compilation of Gerrard’s best Liverpool moments with the exploding head emoji.

Rather than join Bellingham in admiration of the club legend though, Liverpool fans instead attempted to convince Bellingham to make a sensational transfer.

“Come to Liverpool bro you and Trent would be crazy,” one fan tweeted.

“See you in Liverpool in future,” a second Liverpool supporter added.

“Come to Liverpool then lad,” a third wrote in reply to Bellingham.

Another Reds supporter also shockingly suggested that Bellingham should take over as Liverpool’s next number eight, succeeding Gerrard in wearing that shirt number.

“Come to Liverpool and take the number eight in my opinion,” they tweeted.
