LASK v Liverpool: Pictures
Liverpool ace Dominik Szoboszlai was involved in an exchange with LASK fans on Thursday night, with footage of the incident emerging on social media. Szoboszlai came off the bench for the last half an hour of the encounter in Austria as the Reds ran out 3-1 winners.
Liverpool signed Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig in the summer, with the midfielder making an instant impact during his early days at Anfield after playing every minute of his team’s first five Premier League games.
The 22-year-old was introduced to the action at 1-1 on Thursday night after Darwin Nunez’s penalty had cancelled out Florian Flecker’s first half goal. And the Hungary captain helped steer his side to victory as Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah found the back of the net.
After the match had come to an end, Liverpool players went over to their fans to applaud them. But Szoboszlai detached himself from his team-mates to gesture at the LASK supporters in the stand. The star pointed and moved his fists up and down before shrugging his shoulders and nodding at the fans.

It’s unknown whether Szoboszlai was trying to goad the LASK fans or whether he was just having some friendly banter with them. But the player’s actions show he is no shrinking violet and that he’s certainly happy to exhibit his gritty side for all to see.
Szoboszlai spent three years at RB Salzburg before moving to Germany in 2021 and also had a stint with Austrian team FC Liefering in his younger days. So his exchange at the Raiffeisen Arena could carry over from his time in central Europe.

Liverpool stormed to the top of the Group E table after leaving Austria with all three points on Thursday. And after the showdown, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp said: “So obviously LASK had in the first half one shot on target and it was after a set-piece. We showed two football situations from the first half where we did really well.
“I’m pretty sure the boys would have thought there was nothing good in the first half, but that’s not true. We had good moments and that’s what we showed and besides that I told them we had to get rid of the frustration and start getting back into the game again and we have a good chance to turn it around. And that’s what we did. And I’m really happy because I knew it would be difficult – it was difficult. We won it, well deserved, that’s it.”
