Manchester City have been forced to postpone their clash with Everton due to an outbreak of Covid-19 cases – leaving lifelong supporter Liam Gallagher seething.
Another five City players have contracted coronavirus ahead of their scheduled meeting with the Toffees, just a few days after Kyle Walker and Gabriel Jesus tested positive.
Four members of staff also returned positives at the same time as Walker and Jesus, meaning nine personnel are now undergoing self-isolation periods at the club.
City had no choice but to ask the Premier League to postpone their fixture against Everton, a request which was rightly accepted.
But former Oasis star Gallagher, who is a die-hard fan of the club, is furious that the game has been cancelled and has taken to Twitter to blast the “f****** c***” of a virus.
“The footy is off GUTTED you f****** C*** of a virus,” he wrote.
“Be gone you f***** s***”.
It is unclear whether City will be able to play their next match, which comes away at Chelsea on January 3.
In a statement released on Monday, the Etihad club said: “Manchester City FC can confirm that this evening’s Premier League fixture at Everton has been postponed.
“After the latest round of Covid-19 testing, the club returned a number of positive cases, in addition to the four already reported on Christmas Day.
“With the security of the bubble compromised, there posed a risk that the virus could spread further amongst the squad, the staff and potentially beyond.
“Based on strong medical advice the Premier League, in consultation with both clubs, have decided to postpone the fixture.

“All positive cases involving players and staff will observe a period of self-isolation in accordance with Premier League and UK Government protocol on quarantine. The first team training ground at City Football Academy will close for an indeterminate period, with the squad and associated bubble undergoing testing before any decision is made for training to resume.
“Everyone at the Club wishes all of our colleagues a speedy recovery ahead of their return to work, training and competition.”
