Germany are looking for a new boss after Hansi Flick was sacked on Sunday following a humiliating 4-1 home defeat to Japan.
Legendary former striker and German FA (DFB) sports director Rudi Voller led the team to an impressive 2-1 win over France on Tuesday.
Voller is part of a three-man team leading the search for Flick’s replacement, alongside DFB president Bernd Neuendorf and vice-president Hans-Joachim Watzke.
Contact has been made by Voller with representatives of Nagelsmann, according to German newspaper Bild.

Discussions have reportedly begun over finances, with the former Bayern Munich boss seen as being in ‘pole position’ to take charge.
Nagelsmann was sacked by Bayern in March despite the German giants still being in the title race and the Champions League.
The 36-year-old’s shock dismissal ended a 22-month spell in the job where he had won 60 of his 84 games in charge, leading Bayern to the Bundesliga title and two German Super Cups.
Nagelsmann is still legally contracted to Bayern despite being sacked by the club, with his £6m-per-year deal running until 2026.
Watzke, who is also Borussia Dortmund’s managing director, has approached Bayern to discuss Nagelsmann’s suitability for the national team job.
Discussions have reportedly taken place over the conditions Bayern are prepared to accept to release Nagelsmann from his contact.
The reigning German champions are claimed to be willing to waive a fee for his release, despite having paid RB Leipzig a world-record £21.7million to secure his services in 2021.
Bild reported that Bayern have demanded that the DFB cover Nagelsmann’s entire salary for the remainder of his contract.

Nagelsmann would have to transform Germany ahead of a home Euros if appointed as boss
Should the DFB agree to the demand, Bayern would save the £17million owed to Nagelsmann in the remainder of his contract.
Nagelsmann, who was linked with Chelsea, Tottenham and PSG during the summer, would be tasked with turning around Germany’s fortunes if appointed.
Germany were eliminated from the 2018 and 2022 World Cups in the group stages, while they suffered a last-16 exit to England at Euro 2020.
Amazon’s All or nothing documentary on their debacle at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar exposed Flick and the team’s inability to properly connect with each other.
Germany had gone five matches without a win under Flick prior to his dismissal, with the run including four defeats.
The Euro 2024 hosts have three more matches this year as they build towards next summer’s tournament.
Matthias Sammer and Oliver Glasner have also been touted as candidates to take over as Germany boss, while Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been ruled out of contention.
