Jermaine Jenas has publicly apologised to referee Rob Jones who he called a “complete sh**house” during the North London Derby.

The BBC pundit launched an X-rated rant at the referee on Twitter after Jones awarded Arsenal a penalty in Sunday’s derby match against Jenas’ former club, Tottenham.

Jenas wrote on Twitter on Sunday: “Complete sh**house of a referee! They’re all ruining our game!” And the former England international suffered huge backlash on social media after he previously fronted the FA’s ‘Love Football, Protect the Game’ campaign before the start of the 2023/24 season.

In a post on Monday, Jenas apologised to referee Jones, he wrote: “I hold my hands up, I got it wrong yesterday. I should know, more than most, the responsibility we have as fans, players and pundits and the impact our words online can have as it's an area I've been vocal in.”
