Jamie Carragher has slammed Cristiano Ronaldo for his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan as he leapt to the defence of Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag.

Ronaldo shockingly revealed that he ‘doesn’t respect’ current United boss Ten Hag and accused the Dutchman and senior officials at the club of trying to force him out in the explosive interview.

The Portuguese superstar is unhappy with how he has been treated by the club and claimed he felt ‘betrayed’.

The interview has been met with anger at United, with players reportedly ‘hugely disappointed’ by Ronaldo’s actions.

Ex-Liverpool defender Carragher has been vocal about Ronaldo’s position at United this season and has responded to the 37-year-old troublemaker’s latest comments with furore.

Taking to Twitter, Carragher slammed Ronaldo for getting it all wrong with his recent interview as he insisted that ‘99%’ of Man United supporters will back Ten Hag over the winger.

‘Ronaldo “I don’t respect the manager” Ronaldo under ETH: Announced he wanted to leave, refused to come on as a substitute, walked off the bench and left before the game had finished. 

‘99% of United fans will be on the side of ETH, which shows how badly Ronaldo has handled this.’

He followed up his original post with another message, quipping that former United teammates Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra, and Roy Keane will be the ‘1%’ that back the out-of-form star.

The trio of ex-players have been vocal in their support for Ronaldo and the way he has been treated by Ten Hag and his staff this season.

Ronaldo’s startling revelations into the Man United dressing room come off the back of the club’s last-gasp winner against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

The five-time Champions League winner was absent from the trip after Ten Hag decided to rest his striker ahead of the final match before the World Cup gets underway in Qatar on November 20.

A short snippet of Ronaldo’s interview with Piers Morgan saw the global footballing icon admit he ‘feels betrayed’ by the club following his sensational return to Old Trafford at the start of last season.
