Liverpool are close to agreeing a £30.5million transfer for RB Leipzig's Ibrahima Konate – but are the Reds getting a good deal?
Jurgen Klopp has been forced to use 19 different centre-half pairings since the start of the season with Virgil van Dijk's absence beginning a chain reaction of bad luck at the back.
Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and the latest of Nat Phillips have all dropped to the treatment room, leaving Klopp to improvise with his midfield.
Fabinho dropped back to partner Ozan Kabak, who was at fault for Newcastle's last-minute equaliser in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Anfield.
As the German boss searches for reinforcements, Konate's fitness record isn't much better.
The 21 year-old French centre-back has only made 64 appearances for RB Leipzig since 2017 due to a number of concerns.
A few knocks kept him inactive in his debut season for the Bundesliga club and a torn muscle in October 2019 has plagued his career ever since.
The torn muscle took him a total 335 days to rehabilitate until disaster struck again before Christmas last year.
Another 49 days with an ankle injury kept him out for a while longer.
Liverpool fans have called for Schalke loanee Kabak's deal to be made permanent but after today's result, they may have changed their minds.
Regardless, some supporters are split on Konate's potential arrival.
One user said: " Much of a defensive load won't be on him if VVD (van Dijk) and Gomez are back. He will be a great addition."

Another fan was more sceptical.
"'I'd prefer to sign players that rarely tend to get injuries," they said.
"With our luck lately it would seem a bit silly to be looking at someone with a comparable injury history as Gomez."
One more jibed: "If you think this is bad, then you should see (Alex) Oxlade-Chamberlain's injury record."
