Erling Haaland has teased a potential transfer after his outstanding display in Borussia Dortmund’s 3-2 win over Sevilla in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie. The 20-year-old netted a brace and provided an assist in the game and was asked afterwards about the speculation linking him with a transfer away from Dortmund.

The likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City have all been linked with Haaland and when asked about being ‘desired in Madrid’, the forward teased a move.

He gave a wry smile and replied: “It’s always nice when someone wants you.”

Haaland also told Viaplay that Kylian Mbappe’s hat-trick in PSG’s 4-1 win over Barcelona gave him “free motivation”.

“It was good to score goals,” he said.

“I love the Champions League and when I saw Mbappe score the hat-trick yesterday I got free motivation, so thanks to him.

“He scored some nice goals and I got a good boost from him.”

Haaland’s comment comes after United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer addressed his interest in bringing the forward to Old Trafford in an interview with Norwegian newspaper VG.

“We are going to do what we can to become a better team, and he will do what he can to become a better player,” Solskjaer said.

“Where he ends up? I do not want to say anything else.

“I wish him all the best. What choice he makes is up to him.”

He added: “Erling is going to have a fantastic career. I follow Erling. I have always said that.

“Was it 18 months we had together or something like that? Almost two years, perhaps. A fantastic time.

“He will surely have a super career both for Norway and his club.

“He is doing incredibly well for Dortmund. We will see where he ends up.

“As a Norwegian and someone who has worked with him, it is of course great that he is doing so well.”

Haaland has netted 25 goals and provided seven assists in 24 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
