Mason Greenwood could be handed a return to international football three years on from his last England cap.
Greenwood joined La Liga side Getafe on loan this season as he made his return to football since he was suspended by Manchester United in January 2022 as he faced allegations of attempted rape, assault and coercive control, which were all dropped in February this year.
It was announced by United after a lengthy internal investigation that he would not be reintegrated into the club and instead moved to Getafe to resurrect his career. Now he could be handed a lifeline at international level as Jamaica are reportedly open to Greenwood switching his allegiance to play for them.

Greenwood has only been capped once by England in 2020 and, under FIFA ruling, he would still be able to switch allegiances and represent a different national side. FIFA rule says players can switch allegiances if they haven’t played more than three competitive games before turning 21.
The versatile striker’s sole cap came during a competitive match against Iceland in the Nations League at the age of 18 meaning he’s still eligible to turn out for Jamaica – who he’s able to represent through his parents.

Jamaica head coach Heimir Hallgrimsson told the Jamaica Observer that he would be open to Greenwood playing for the ‘Reggae Boyz’ as he wants to build a team with the most talent possible. He said: "I'm not different from all coaches in the world.
"We would like to have the best talent on our team. If he gets his former fitness and former levels, then for sure he would have that level to help Jamaica."
