The Glazer family reportedly feel that the overall valuation of Manchester United is set to reach £10billion by 2030, in what could be a damning blow to the prospects of a full takeover in the future at Old Trafford. Sir Jim Ratcliffe is currently in talks with the American billionaires about buying a 25 per cent stake in the club, having been priced out of taking full ownership of his boyhood side.
After almost 12 months of speculation, the takeover saga at Old Trafford looks set to conclude. The prospect of a full takeover consistently felt too good to be true for United supporters, despite Qatari royal Sheikh Jassim making a mammoth offer to acquire the services of the club.
His camp felt that their final offer of just under £5bn would be too much for the Glazers to turn down. However, Sheikh Jassim ultimately withdrew his interest after the bid was rejected – prompting Ratcliffe to take a different approach and buy a stake in the club instead.
Reports have speculated that the INEOS billionaire is locked in negotiations with Raine, who have been tasked with handling the takeover process since last year, about the purchase and the 71-year-old would like to strike a deal that allows him to increase his stake further down the line. However, it remains to be seen whether the Glazers accept such a proposition given their private view of the situation.

According to The Independent, Avram and Joel Glazer believe that United will be worth £10bn in the next seven years as they anticipate a lucrative shift in the sport’s ‘economic and broadcasting models’. Whether that valuation will change once Ratcliffe arrives with his own expertise remains to be seen.
Such a mammoth valuation would price numerous prospective owners out of a takeover in the future, and if the projection comes to fruition then it could be a hammer blow to Sheikh Jassim given that a further £1bn is likely to have tested the resolve of the family.

During negotiations with all interested parties, Raine are claimed to have called for offers in the region of £6bn and £8bn. Thus, Ratcliffe made it clear throughout negotiations that he was willing to work alongside the Glazers rather than rule himself out of the race entirely at a later date.
The Nice owner is hopeful of appointing a new sporting director upon his arrival and speculation is brewing that a new manager could be targeted if Erik ten Hag is unable to spark his squad into life over the coming months.
