Footage emerges of opponent trying to rip gloves off Chelsea’s Mendy

Footage has emerged of one Fulham player trying to take Chelsea star Edouard Mendy's gloves off.

It comes in the midst of the west London derby that went ahead on Saturday at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues came through unscathed, inflicting a 2-0 win over their local rivals with two goals from Kai Havertz – both taken in excellent fashion.

For Scott Parker's side, it was perhaps the final nail in their Premier League coffin after a series of disappointing results.

The former midfielder would have known that any further points dropped could see their top-tier adventure end after just one season.

But that did not stop Bobby Decordova-Reid doing everything he could do to get a slight advantage.

That included the forward trying to take Mendy’s goalkeeping gloves off him during the corner.

The footage has been widely circulated in the aftermath of the match, with many jovially applauding the Jamaica international.

Decordova-Reid was trying to pull the straps off Mendy’s gloves as the two hustled before a corner was sent in as he looked to distract the Blues No. 1 prior to a delivery.

But it only served the irritate the Senegal international, while the corner failed to beat the first man.

In the end, the visitors could not get the ball over the line – leading to another clean sheet for the former Rennes man.

The Chelsea keeper now has 16 clean sheets in the Premier League – second only to Manchester City’s Ederson (18) – and his 23rd in all competitions.

The Stamford Bridge outfit have a tough week coming up, though, as they take on Real Madrid, City and Arsenal in the space of a week.

And while the Blues sit fourth in the table at the moment, Thomas Tuchel has warned his side against letting up now.

"No, I feel we have nothing to lose. We are in the middle of the race," he said.

"I think it will continue but it was such a big match to keep the advantage, we have worked so hard in the last week and like I said it is very important that we have a clear mind and nothing to regret for the Wednesday game.

"Then comes the Wednesday game and then look at our fixtures, you see how tough it is. We take nothing for granted, we work hard and keep our head down, feet on the ground and try to the best we can."
