Nottingham Forest defender Felipe is set to miss tonight’s clash against Tottenham – which could open the door to Scott McKenna returning to the senior squad for the first time since September.
Felipe, 34, is understood to have sustained a muscular injury which is ‘not serious’ in training this week but is set to be unavailable for the visit of Ange Postecoglou’s men.
The injury blow has left head coach Steve Cooper considering whether to hand McKenna, who started the season as first-choice, a recall to his squad.
If the 27-year-old is selected, it is likely he will be named on the substitute’s bench for the clash against Tottenham.
The news comes after Mail Sport exclusively revealed last week that McKenna – along with captain Joe Worrall – had been training away from the senior squad after falling out of favour.

The non-inclusion of McKenna and Worrall for senior sessions is not a consequence of any behavioural issues, but various sources have confirmed that the pair have been training away from their first-team colleagues.
Felipe’s injury in training has left Cooper short on defensive options, meaning McKenna, who hasn’t played for Forest since September – but did feature for Scotland last month – is set to be named in a match-day squad for the first time for four months.
