The midfielder arrived at Old Trafford on the final day of the summer transfer window on an initial loan deal from Fiorentina which can be made permanent next summer.

In the days that followed, the 27-year-old withdrew from the Morrocco squad ahead of games against Liberia and Burkina Faso after picking up an injury.

United welcome Roberto De Zerbi’s side to Old Trafford this weekend but Amrabat will not be involved, with Erik ten Hag taking caution over his introduction into the first-team after his recent knock.

He told MUTV: ‘Amrabat, he came back unfortunately with the injury, so he will not be available for tomorrow [Saturday], but I think, on the short notice [soon], yes. And I’m sure we will all get joy from them.’

Amrabat was one of four deadline day signings with Johnny Evans returning to the club, goalkeeper Altay Bayindir joining from Fenerbache and Sergio Reguilon arriving on loan from Tottenham.

Brought in with both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia ruled out through injury, Reguilon was named among the subs in the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal prior to the international break.

Having now had two full weeks of training under his belt with his new side, the Spaniard will be hoping to make his debut soon.

‘We are a little bit short of defenders, so [Reguilon] can come quickly,’ ten Hag said.

United remain without Mason Mount and Raphael Varane but Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof are expected to be fit for the visit of the Seagulls after both were forced off in the defeat to Arsenal.

Antony will not be involved with the winger on a mutually agreed leave of absence following domestic abuse allegations.

Jadon Sancho has also been sidelined as the result of his public spat with the United boss.

The former Borussia Dortmund star is training alone after refusing a request to apologise to ten Hag following his outburst last week.
