‘I’ve played at Old Trafford more times than you!’: Manchester United pariah Donny van de Beek is being TEASED by his Women’s team compatriot Jackie Groenen, with £35m midfielder going five months without a Premier League start

- The midfielder has barely played since his £35m move from Ajax last summer
- Groenen, star of the Women’s team, joked she has played more at Old Trafford
Outcast Donny van de Beek has been subject to teasing from fellow compatriot and Manchester United star Jackie Groenen.
The creative midfielder was signed last summer from Ajax for £35million by Ole Gunnar Solksjaer with a view to make an immediate impact at Old Trafford.
However, the 24-year-old has found himself on the outskirts of the team and struggling to get minutes, especially in the Premier League.

The Women’s team star joked about playing more minutes at Old Trafford this season
The Dutch international has not made a league start under Solskjaer in 2021 and has only made brief cameos in recent months – with just one appearance lasting over 20 minutes since the start of December.
Meanwhile, Groenen has made more of an impact for Manchester United’s Women’s team since joining Casey Stoney’s side back in 2019.
And after the Women’s Super League side played their first match at Old Trafford last month, Groenen revealed she had a cheeky jibe for her friend van de Beek.
‘I joked the other day by telling him that I’ve played Old Trafford more times than he has,’ Groenen joked with ESPN.

‘I think he’s having a good time, so it must be fine. I talk to him regularly.’
The midfielder played the full WSL match against West Ham United, meaning she has played roughly just one hour less at Old Trafford than van de Beek has all season.
The former Ajax star has found himself with a conundrum following the £35m move, with the European Championships just months away.
Contrary to Groenen saying that he is having a ‘good time’, Netherlands boss Frank de Boer revealed that he is not happy with his current situation but is willing to fight for his place in Manchester.
‘His agent also told me that of course he’s not happy that he’s not playing. He’s only had two starts under Solskjaer and that’s not what he hoped for when he joined Man Utd,’ De Boer told Talksport last month.

‘He’s not worried, of course he wants to play every game. But he’s not worried that he can’t succeed.
‘He has to have a review after this year, asking where do I stand? Do I have a possibility to succeed here or not? Otherwise, I have to make a move.
‘We will see where he’s heading next year, maybe he stays at Man Utd or maybe another club is interesting for him.
‘But he’s not panicking at all, he told the manager he’s so happy at Man Utd because the club is one of the best in terms of how they treat him, he feels loved.’
