Manchester City’s legendary midfielder David Silva has revealed that Erling Haaland is the current player in Pep Guardiola’s side he would most like to have played with.
Reigning PFA and UEFA Player of the Year Haaland has picked up this season where he left off and is already leading the race for the golden boot with six in goals in four games.
Silva registered 60 goals and 106 assists in 309 Premier League games and was known for his ability to unlock low blocks with defence splitting passes, something Haaland would have relished if they’d played together.
The 37-year-old described the Norwegian striker as ‘a beast’, after he smashed home 52 goals in 53 games in all competitions for City.
The Spaniard made 436 appearances in all competitions in his ten seasons at the Etihad, winning the Premier League four times, the FA Cup twice and the League Cup on five occasions.

Silva has named City striker Erling Haaland as the player he wished he could have played with
Silva insisted: ‘Haaland is a beast and I like the way he moves on the field,
‘I would have loved to have played with him, to help him score even more goals!’
The former playmaker came through the ranks at La Liga side Valencia, joining City in 2010 but left England in 2020 after six years to join Real Sociedad.
He went on to make 93 appearances for Sociedad but was forced to retire earlier this year after a bad knee injury suffered in preseason.
Silva tipped his former side to win the league again this year, saying: ‘They have an amazing team with some amazing players
‘This is Pep’s eighth season at City. The first year he was getting used to the Premier League, but now they are almost unstoppable.
‘Arsenal are the only team I can see who maybe have a chance of challenging City. The rest? I don’t think they can.’
