Dani Ceballos has ruled out extending his stay at Arsenal for another year after declaring that he likes LaLiga a lot more than the Premier League.

The 24-year-old is approaching the end of his loan spell at the Emirates after he initially joined on a season-long loan from Real Madrid in the summer of 2019 before agreeing to an extra 12 months following an impressive debut campaign in England.

However, Ceballos has struggled to replicate that same form this season and is now pining for a return to Spain, claiming another year in north London would be ‘difficult’.

‘I’ve had a bad time because I didn’t have the consistency I had last year,’ Ceballos told Onda Cero ahead of Arsenal’s Europa League semi-final tie against Villarreal on Thursday. ‘These last five or six games I’ve played at a good level.

‘To be honest I like LaLiga a lot more. The Premier League is more complete but with my style, La Liga is much better for me.

‘Another loan would be difficult from both sides, for Real Madrid and for me.’

Ceballos went on to reveal his desire to play for Real Betis again, where he enjoyed playing for six years of his career before signing for Real in 2017.

Now the Spain international wants somewhere where he can settle down and enjoy the prime years of his career and a reunion with Betis is on the midfielder’s agenda.

‘I’m about to turn 25 in August and I have to settle at a club where I feel important, that’s what I’ll look for,’ he added.

‘I have a lot of affection for Betis, I’m a Betis fan, I watch every Betis game, [Manuel] Pellegrini is a really good coach who I like.’

The 24-year-old is currently on loan from Real Madrid and will return to the club this summer

Ceballos has only started 15 of Arsenal’s 33 Premier League games this season and has recorded just three assists in that spell.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has played Ceballos in all but one of their 11 Europa League games this season ahead of their semi-final with Villarreal on Thursday.
