Chelsea are expected to rival the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid for red hot striker Erling Haaland’s signature this summer. The Norwegian has been in electric form once again this season, and scored twice in the win over Sevilla on Wednesday night.
Chelsea transfer chief Marina Granovskaia’s decision to target Erling Haaland appears to be the right one given the Norwegian’s magic form of late.
It is understood that the Blues will make an approach for Haaland this summer, with The Athletic claiming they are willing to battle off the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid for the red hot striker’s signature.
Thomas Tuchel is keen to add another frontline striker to provide competition with Tammy Abraham, while Timo Werner is set to be used more as a wide forward.
And if it’s a world class goalscorer Granovskaia is after, it is a world class goalscorer they’ll get in Haaland.
Borussia Dortmund are expected to offload some of their star names including Jadon Sancho and Giovanni Reyna this summer to raise funds.
Haaland has a release clause set at £66.6m, but while that does not become active until until the end of the 2021-22 season, Chelsea are still interested in seeing if Dortmund would be keen to cut ties a year early.
After scoring twice against Sevilla on Wednesday night, the 20-year-old appeared to issue a ‘come and get me’ message to interested clubs.
When asked about being ‘desired in Madrid’, he replied with a smile: “It’s always nice when someone wants you.”

Before adding: “It was good to score goals. I love the Champions League and when I saw Mbappe score the hat-trick yesterday I got free motivation, so thanks to him.
“He scored some nice goals and I got a good boost from him.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal legend and self-confessed Chelsea fan Merson says he believes it is the Stamford Bridge outfit who most need a player of Haaland’s calibre.
He wrote for the Daily Star: “Of all the teams who are in for Erling Haaland, Chelsea are the ones who need him most.
“They have always been successful with someone who has a presence up front and Haaland has that. He’s going to score bundles wherever he goes.
“And if you buy him this summer, you still have the prospect of being able to sell him for a profit later down the line because of his age.
“I’m not sure he’s such a good fit for Manchester City, where he probably wouldn’t play as much.
“But for whoever gets him, it will be worth it. He puts up numbers and he keeps on doing it. Whoever signs him will have a chance of winning the league.”
