Chelsea new boys Timo Werner and Kai Havertz both got on the scoresheet for Germany on Tuesday night – leaving the Blues faithful ecstatic on social media.
Werner and Havertz joined Frank Lampard’s side for a combined £126million this summer, leaving behind RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen respectively to move to England.
The pair have struggled to live up to expectations so far at Stamford Bridge, failing to register a single Premier League goal between them in Chelsea’s first four games of the season.
However, both men managed to find the back of the net in Germany’s pulsating 3-3 draw with Switzerland in Cologne this evening.
After Mario Gavranovic fired the visitors in front early on, Werner soon levelled proceedings with a sweeping finish from inside the box – and it was Havertz who fed him the ball after dispossessing Fabian Schar just outside the halfway line.
The latter then added Germany’s second 10 minutes into the second half, intercepting a cross-field pass and racing through on goal before slotting past Yann Sommer from a tight angle.
And Chelsea fans couldn’t contain their delight on social media, taking to Twitter to wax lyrical about their new two signings.
One wrote: “Werner and Havertz popping off tonight”.
“Werner and Havertz scoring tonight. You just love to see it,” said another.
A third commented: “Havertz & Werner, the Chelsea wonder boys”.
Another warned their upcoming Premier League opponents: “Havertz and Werner scored? Get ready Southampton”.
While one quipped: “Without Kai Havertz and Timo Werner Germany are basically San Marino.”
Werner and Havertz are yet to break their Premier League ducks, but both men have scored for Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.

The former got on the scoresheet in their 1-1 draw with Tottenham at the end of September, which eventually saw them eliminated from the competition on penalties.
It was Havertz who inspired them to victory in the previous round, however, with his first Blues hat-trick handing them a resounding 6-0 win over Barnsley.
