Brennan Johnson left the pitch with his face covered in blood after being withdrawn from Tottenham’s Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest with a deep head cut.
The 22-year-old attacking talent was making his first return to the City Ground after departing Forest for Spurs in a £47.5m move but was forced off after just 32 minutes.
Johnson was helping defend Tottenham’s box when he accidentally clashed heads with Forest defender Willy Boly and subsequently collapsed to the ground.
The horror collision caused team medics to run onto the pitch as play was immediately stopped while Johnson was given treatment and time to recover.
It was clear he wouldn’t be able to continue when Johnson sat up and could be seen with blood on his head. He was then helped to his feet and off the pitch by former team-mate Morgan Gibbs-White.
