Relegation-threatened Empoli have fired head coach Aurelio Andreazzoli after a run of one win in 11 matches in Serie A this season.
Empoli made the announcement on their website on Monday, three days after being beaten 5-1 by Napoli – a result which leaves them three points adrift of safety.
The Italian club have been linked with former Palermo and Sassuolo coach Giuseppe Iachini as a replacement for Andreazzoli, who was hired in December.
Andreazzoli led Empoli to the Serie B title and promotion last season but the club have struggled on their return to the top flight and have not won since beating Cagliari in August.
