Arsenal could go close to completing Mikel Arteta’s rebuild with the signing of Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina and two more additions. Vlahovic has been strongly linked with a transfer to the Emirates Stadium having impressed in Italy.

The Serbian has scored an incredible 16 goals in 20 appearances during Serie A this season, in addition to two more in domestic cup competitions.

Vlahovic has earned vast interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs and could be viewed as a back-up option to those who fail to sign Erling Haaland.

However, Arsenal are so far supposedly winning the race. It would be beneficial to Arteta to get a deal done soon given that he could lose all three of his strikers in the summer.

Express Sport looks at how an Arsenal team might appear with Vlahovic and two more transfers.

Goalkeeper: Ramsdale

The £30m it required to prise Aaron Ramsdale away from Sheffield United in the summer was castigated by rival supporters – and even some Arsenal fans.

But the England goalkeeper has been one of the signings of the season.

He had displaced Bernd Leno as Arteta’s No 1 within a few weeks and has already produced a couple of excellent performances during his first half-season.

He will undoubtedly continue as the first choice for the foreseeable future.

Defenders: Lamptey, White, Gabriel, Tierney

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Brighton right-back Tariq Lamptey.

Express Sport understands that the North Londoners are interested in a transfer that could see them spend £50m.

Lamptey’s arrival would likely relegate summer signing Takehiro Tomiyasu to the bench, which might be slightly unfair given his form this term. The former Bologna defender has performed well under Arteta.

Alongside Lamptey would be the flourishing centre-back partnership of Ben White and Gabriel, with Kieran Tierney on the left.

Midfielders: Partey, Tielemans, Odegaard

Another played linked with the Gunners is Leicester midfielder Tielemans. Goal reported that the Belgian is of interest to Arteta, alongside Juventus’ Arthur Melo.

Arteta is in desperate need of a central midfielder given that he has lost Ainsley Maitland-Niles on loan to Roma.

The 24-year-old will be expected to find a permanent move at the end of the season.

Tielemans will likely slot into midfield alongside either Martin Odegaard or Emile Smith Rowe. Thomas Partey will occupy a deeper position.

Attackers: Saka, Vlahovic, Martinelli

The most exciting rumour involving Arsenal is that they are interested in signing Vlahovic.

The 21-year-old scored 33 Serie A goals in 2021, equalling Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for a single calendar year.

Arteta faces the unique prospect of losing all three of his main strikers ahead of next season. Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are out of contract in June while Pierre-Emerick Aubemayeng seems unlikely to rekindle his Arsenal career.

Signing Vlahovic and potentially a new back-up striker seems likely summer business.
