Arsenal will be looking for their first victory since last month’s north London derby win when they take on Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium.

The match represents the Gunners’ second game in five days, with Alexandre Lacazette scoring with the last kick of the game to rescue a point for Mikel Arteta’s men at home to Crystal Palace on Monday.

Villa meanwhile have suffered back-to-back top-flight defeats since winning at Manchester United at the end of September, including a loss at Tottenham followed by their shock 3-2 reverse against West Midlands rivals Wolves at the weekend.

Never say never….

Some fond memories for Dean Smith’s men of the Emirates Stadium following a brilliant win last season, including an Ollie Watkins double.

The Gunners meanwhile failed to score against the West Midlands outfit last season.

Nuno Tavares makes his first Premier League start instead of the injured Scot.

It’s been hard to miss, but Emi Martinez returns to the Emirates for the second time since leaving for Aston Villa.

Arsenal have reshuffled the goalkeepers lately, with Aaron Ramsdale now No 1, but Arteta believes the move suited all parties

Arsenal: Ramsdale, Tomiyasu, White, Gabriel, Tavares, Thomas, Sambi Lokonga, Saka, Smith-Rowe, Aubameyang, Lacazette.
Subs: Leno, Odegaard, Maitland-Niles, Holding, Cedric, Pepe, Elneny, Kolasinac, Martinelli.

Aston Villa: Martinez, Konsa, Tuanzebe, Mings, Cash, McGinn, Douglas Luiz, Targett, Buendia, Ings, Watkins.
Subs: Sanson, Steer, Young, Nakamba, El Ghazi, Hause, Bailey, Archer, Jacob Ramsey.

Referee: Craig Pawson (South Yorkshire)

The big question is how many goalkeeper gloves does Aaron Ramsdale need?

Too many possibly, looking at this. The bigger question is how will the teams line up this evening and we will bring you that news next….

Not that he looks in the best of moods as he is greeted by a fan for a selfie, and speaking of fans – they are starting to arrive at the Emirates now.

It was all smiles for Arsenal after they brushed aside Tottenham to earn north London bragging rights last time out… but they have not won a game since.

Mikel Arteta’s side have followed up the 3-1 derby win with underwhelming draws against Brighton and Crystal Palace so they will be looking to get back to winning ways as I welcome you to our live coverage of Arsenal vs Aston Villa to get this weekend’s Premier League action underway.
