Jesse Lingard has lit up the London Stadium since his loan move to West Ham in January and the Hammers are desperate to make the transfer permanent. But with Arsenal in the market for a No 10, the Gunners should consider a move for the England international if other transfer pursuits fail to come off this summer.
Lingard’s career at Manchester United appeared to be coming towards an end after failing to make a single Premier League appearance this season before his departure in the winter window.
It still remains unlikely that United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would view the 28-year-old as a key member of his squad moving forward due to the competition in that position.
However, six goals in his eight appearances for West Ham so far should attract the eye of a number of other Premier League sides.
And his record at the Emirates is something that could catch the attention of Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.

It is fair to say that Lingard is not a favourite of Arsenal supporters.
The attacking midfielder has scored five goals in his nine career appearances against the Gunners, including a stunning strike in the 3-3 draw between West Ham and Arsenal last month.
Lingard’s record at the Emirates is even better, notching three goals in four outings at the north London stadium.
He nicknamed the Emirates his “dancefloor” following his goal in United’s 3-1 FA Cup victory there in early 2019.

The dance and subsequent comment riled Arsenal fans but that should not stop the club considering a move this summer.
Arsenal want to keep Martin Odegaard following his successful loan spell in the second half of this season.
However, the Norwegian currently looks set to return to Real Madrid this summer.
There are other options, including long-term target Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City.
But in Lingard there is a player who is desperate to prove his many doubters wrong.
Reports say Lingard’s price could go up to £40m if his form with the Irons continues.
Last month David Moyes made it clear he wants to make a deal permanent if he can.
“Jesse wanted to come here, right from the start,” Moyes said.
“When I was talking to him he wanted to come to West Ham. He saw it as a really good place for him. I think he’ll have seen what we’re trying to do.
“But I would hope Jesse sees this as a good place if it’s possible to be done, and if we think that we want to do it at the end of the season.”
However, a goalscoring No 10 is the type of player Arsenal are after.
And therefore they should not let history prevent the Emirates from being Lingard’s dancefloor on a more regular basis.
