Arsenal investigating Aubameyang for ‘Covid breach’ after getting new tattoo

Arsenal are investigating club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for a “Covid breach” after getting a new tattoo.

The Gabon international appeared to break lockdown rules when he showed off the new ink alongside Spanish tattoo artist Alejandro Nicolas Bernal.

But this would be a break of UK lockdown regulations, with all tattoo parlours ordered to be close during the Covid-19 pandemic.

While it is not clear when or where the work was carried out, Aubameyang did appear in the Barcelona-based man’s Instagram story without a mask.

Putting his arm around Bernal, the north London star put his hand up to show off some artwork with a symbol in a black circle.

And the clip was posted on the tattoo artist’s Instagram story just days after the 31-year-old was given time off by the club to visit his mum in France amid illness.

It has now seen the club start an investigation into Aubameyang’s activities, according to The Sun .

A club spokesman said: “We will speak to the player about this matter and establish what has taken place.”

The forward missed three games last month, including two fixtures against Southampton and the draw to Manchester United, having been given permission to see his mum.

He made a first start for Arsenal since the absence in the 4-2 win against Leeds on Sunday.

Aubameyang opened the scoring after just 13 minutes, driving towards the penalty box before sneaking it past Illan Meslier at his near post.

And the brace came just before half time, slotting a penalty after Bukayo Saka was brought down.
