Arsenal: Arteta gives Ozil update as clubs circle
Arsenal have reportedly identified former Arsene Wenger target Julian Draxler as a potential cost-effective solution in the transfer market. The German international has been linked with a move to north London on multiple occasions throughout his career but now the move could finally fall into place.
Draxler is out of contract at Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, meaning he is free to negotiate with other clubs at this moment in time.
The 27-year-old has fallen off the radar in the past few seasons after a promising start to his career in the Bundesliga with Schalke and Wolfsburg.
He was linked with a move to Leeds earlier this summer and the Whites are still monitoring his availability.
While a return to Germany is likely, it appears Arsenal have now entered the fray and with Arteta’s funds limited, Draxler could prove a smart addition to his squad.

According to Bild’s Christian Falk, the Gunners are now interested in Draxler but he is behind Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Brandt on their shortlist.
Arteta is keen to add some productivity behind to his forward line and feels a creative midfield player could get Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang firing again.
The club’s sporting director Michael Zorc claims there is nothing in the rumours linking Brandt to Arsenal at this stage.
“There is nothing on the table at the moment,” said Zorc yesterday.

“We can’t do anything about rumours that are constantly being spread that simply don’t reflect the truth. There’s currently no interest.”
Dortmund are still optimistic Brandt can fulfil his potential at the club following his transfer from Bayer Leverkusen in January 2019.
Another name on Arsenal’s radar in Norwich forward Emi Buendia.
The Gunners are reportedly preparing a player-plus-cash offer for the Argentine, who has continued last season’s impressive form in the Championship.
However, Norwich have now deiced that they will not consider any offers for Buendia this month.
That’s because he’s considered integral to their promotion aspirations and the Canaries do not need the cash following the £25million sale of Ben Godfrey to Everton last year.
Arsenal are fully focused on clearing the decks at the Emirates Stadium and there could be several departures.
Sokratis has attracted interest from Genoa, Fenerbahce and Olympiakos, while the Turkish side also want to sign Mesut Ozil.
