Artificial intelligence has predicted a wild Champions League round of 16.
Wednesday night’s dramatic ending to the last ever Champions League group stage of its kind saw the remaining teams book their places in the knockout stage. Arsenal and Manchester City unsurprisingly topped their groups, while Manchester United and Newcastle finished bottom of theirs and did not qualify.
Now we approach the truly thrilling stage of the competition, as 16 of Europe’s elite clubs find out who they will face when the draw takes place on December 18. But Daily Star Sport has sought to predict the future, asking ChatGPT to tell us who will play who in advance – with astonishing results.

According to AI, City will face Inter Milan – the current Serie A leaders. The fixture would hold huge weight, with Inter having lost to City in the tournament’s final last season in Istanbul.
Pep Guardiola’s side put on a less-than classic display, riding their luck to a 1-0 victory thanks to Rodri’s 68th minute strike. Simone Inzaghi – who seemed to have completely lost his head by the end of the fixture six months ago – would be licking his lips at a chance at revenge.
AI also predicts an England vs Italy match-up in the form of Arsenal and Napoli. The Gunners last played a Champions League knockout game back in February 2017, losing 10-2 on aggregate to Bayern Munich.

Mikel Arteta’s side is far better equipped this time around, and the north Londoners would fancy themselves against a Napoli team which has dropped down to sixth after winning the Scudetto last season.
Perhaps the most tantalising of AI’s predictions is Bayern Munich vs PSG – a replay of the 2020 Champions League final, which the German side won. Kylian Mbappe up against Alphonso Davies again? Yes please.
If ChatGPT is anything to go by, we will also see our very own Jude Bellingham against, and presumably destroying, RB Leipzig as Real Madrid eye a record extending 15th title.
