Lichaa’s fiancee attends court, ex-Bulldog to fight police charges

Michael Lichaa’s fiancee Kara Childerhouse has appeared in court alongside the legal team for the former Bulldogs player, who entered not guilty pleas to police charges after an alleged “love triangle” involving former teammate Adam Elliott.

Lichaa’s case was briefly mentioned on Wednesday where his lawyer Sam Saadat told Sutherland Local Court his client would be contesting the charges after an early morning incident involving Childerhouse on the weekend.

Police charged Lichaa with common assault (domestic violence), destroying or damaging property (domestic violence) and stalking/intimidation causing fear of physical harm (domestic violence) after allegedly becoming enraged when he found Childerhouse “making out” with Elliott on the back deck of their rented Connells Point home.

The former Canterbury hooker denies he assaulted anyone despite court documents claiming Lichaa punched four windows of the house’s front door, causing deep cuts to his arm.

Lichaa, 27, was arrested at the scene and taken to St George Hospital before being returned to police custody.

Childerhouse declined to comment as she left court on Wednesday, while Lichaa did not attend.

The NRL integrity unit has already interviewed Elliott, who spurned big-money offers from rival clubs last year to sign a contract extension with the Bulldogs under new coach Trent Barrett.

The NRL and Bulldogs are expected to finalise the matter involving Elliott in coming days.

Lichaa, a former Lebanon international, spent four seasons as a teammate of Elliott at the Bulldogs but was not offered a new deal at the club after the 2019 season.

The Herald reported earlier this week Childerhouse told police she had been caught in an intimate act with Elliott after earlier in the night accusing Lichaa of infidelity. Lichaa had then gone to bed only to wake at 4.30am and then find her with Elliott, when police allege he chased Childerhouse onto the street.

She later locked herself in a room as neighbours rang 000.

Lichaa’s case has been adjourned to November 2.
