Lando Norris was taken to hospital after being the first man out of the Las Vegas Grand Prix following his crash into a wall on lap three of the race.

The McLaren driver, who started 15th on the grid, spun out of control after a big snap of oversteer and very nearly took out team-mate Oscar Piastri before slamming into the barrier after losing a tyre. Sky Sports' track-side cameras shook as the Brit skidded off the track with sparks flying everywhere in terrifying scenes on the Vegas strip.

On commentary, Martin Brundle described the incident. "Lando lost the back end of the car very early doors," he said. "The car nearly took out his team-mate. It started way up the track when the car just snapped sideways. A total passenger in that. All he has done is driven into the corner and started to apply the brakes."

Despite the ugly impact, Norris quickly radioed his team to let them he was "OK", though he was later taken to hospital as a precaution. After the crash, McLaren said on X: "Gutting for all of us. Lando’s Las Vegas GP is over after only four laps. Glad to know that he is ok after that scary collision with the wall."

They later posted: "Following Lando’s incident earlier, he was transferred to the circuit Medical Centre and has now been taken to University Medical Center for further precautionary investigations." Norris was later discharged.
