AlphaTauri have confirmed that F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo will not drive at the Singapore Grand Prix, but will attend in an ‘engineering capacity’ as he recovers from a broken hand.
The Australian has been absense since the Dutch Grand Prix three weeks ago as he broke his metacarpal in a crash.
Just two days later, Ricciardo underwent surgery and was replaced by Liam Lawson at the event.
It was suggested that the F1 driver would miss up to four races in total and return in early October, with AlphaTauri now confirming he will not make the Singapore GP.
In a pre-event media preview, they confirmed that the driver will ‘will be present with the team in Singapore only for engineering purposes’.

There was no mention of Ricciardo’s plans for the Grand Prix in Japan next week as he continues his recovery.
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner addressed the severity of Ricciardo’s problems, speaking after his surgery as he said: ‘He’s headed off to Barcelona. They may even have a little operation on him tomorrow to tidy up where that break is, it’s quite a clean break.
‘Then of course it’s all about the recuperation and how long that takes. Any normal human being would be 10-12 weeks but we know that these guys aren’t normal.
‘So it will all be about the recovery process – is it going to be three weeks? Will it be a month? Is it six weeks? Nobody really knows.’
It remains to be seen as to when he will return as Lawson continues to deputise for Ricciardo, and will take his place in Singapore.
