As if the Pittsburgh Penguins' five-game losing streak weren't bad enough, they will have to sweat out a possible suspension to their leading scorer.
Evgeni Malkin received a match penalty, which will trigger an automatic review, for his hit to the head of Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie during the third period of Wednesday night's 2-1 road loss.
Oshie was approaching Malkin, and the Penguins' center straightened up, lifted his shoulder and caught Oshie in the head. Oshie, who had left the game earlier after being high-sticked in the eye, went to the dressing room to be checked out under the league's concussion protocol.
He returned and scored the winning goal with 1:14 left.
