The Patriots try and avoid losing back-to-back games as they host the Chiefs in Week 14 on Sunday.
New England (10-2) is coming off its second loss of the season after falling 28-22 to the Texans in Week 13. While it wasn’t expected the Patriots would make it through the regular season undefeated, it always makes headlines when they do lose.
Quarterback Tom Brady hasn’t exactly been himself this season. He is fifth in the league in passing yards (3,268) but his 18 touchdowns, six interceptions and 52.1 QBR are all middle of the road when compared to the rest of the NFL. What’s keyed the Patriots this season is their defense.
New England has been one of the best defensive teams in the league this season. The Patriots rank second in yards allowed per game (258), tied for fourth in sacks (40), second in passing yards allowed per game (163.5), fifth in rushing yards allowed per game (94.5) and second in takeaways (29).
Kansas City (8-4) seems to be hitting its stride at the right time after winning three of its last four games. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been his usual stellar self throwing for 20 touchdowns, two interceptions and 2,983 yards. The Chiefs also hold a two-game lead over the Raiders for first place in the AFC playoff picture with four games to go.
Along with the Patriots, the Chiefs have games with the Broncos, Bears and Chargers to end the season.
