Our Week 8 fantasy defense rankings get the perceived benefit of some favorable byes (Chargers, Cowboys, Falcons, Titans), but once again it doesn’t feel like fantasy football owners will get to reap those benefits in a practical sense. Despite losing no every-week D/ST starters and getting rid of four potential mediocre offensive matchups, our rankings still feature more “sit ’ems” than “start ’ems”. Fortunately, the waiver wire looks like it will come through this week with some worthwhile streaming pickups, including the Patriots, Cardinals, Redskins, Steelers, Dolphins, and Colts.
With a pair of banged-up/backup QBs going on Thursday for the Dolphins-Texans game, you can bet theree will be plenty of sacks and turnovers. The Cardinals-49ers matchup also figures to be a brutal offensive display, though we have a hard time recommending the 49ers defense. The Bears-Jets game should also feature two worthwhile fantasy units, and we tentatively have both the Eagles and Jaguars as recommended starts in the UK, though the Jags are debatable.
Week 8 Rankings:
Quarterback | Running Back | Wide Receiver | Tight End | Kicker
Along with the Jags, the Rams (vs. Packers), Vikings (vs. Saints), Ravens (@ Panthers), Browns (@ Steelers), and Broncos (@ Chiefs) are all big droppers this week. Starting any is a risk given their matchups, but there are only so many other options. The 49ers (@ Cardinals) and Bengals (vs. Bucs) are two more potential sleepers picks, but both come with their own risks.
