Just as we all expected, the seesaw NFC battle between the Packers and Rams came down to a kick return.
It was a return that went sour for the Packers, as Ty Montgomery fumbled the ball with two minutes left and with Green Bay down two points. Los Angeles recovered and never gave its opponent another chance. Although there was some doubt for much of the game, the Rams (8-0) were able to keep their undefeated season alive, securing a 29-27 win over the Packers (3-3-1).

Jared Goff and Todd Gurley led a late scoring drive that ended in a Greg Zuerlein field goal to put the Rams ahead after they trailed for a majority of the fourth quarter. Green Bay also held the lead for the entirety of the first half, as Goff and the Los Angeles offense seemed baffled by the Packers’ defense.
The Rams hit their stride in the third quarter, opening up their lead to as big as 10 points, and Goff ended up with 295 passing yards and three touchdowns. Gurley added 195 yards from scrimmage, including 114 on the ground.
Rodgers will be left wondering what could have been, as one of the league’s best architects of game-winning drives was robbed of another opportunity.
It doesn’t get any easier for the Packers, now third in the NFC North, as they will play the Patriots on the road next week. Next on the Rams’ schedule is potentially the biggest threat to their undefeated season: the high-powered Saints.
Sporting News provided live updates during the Rams’ thrilling victory.
