Denver Broncos fill empty stadium seats with cardboard cutouts of ‘South Park’ characters

Teams have gotten creative with how to fill their stadiums with fans limited or not allowed at all in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Denver Broncos' use of cardboard cutouts of fans has taken this practice to a new level. The upper level of one end zone of Empower Field at Mile High was filled with cutouts of "South Park" characters clad in masks for the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. According to ESPN's Jeff Legwold, there were more than 1,800 cutouts.

The cutout fans "attended" the game, alongside about 5,700 actual human fans, too.
