USA have got off to a blistering start in the Solheim Cup – but their lead won't last long if Emily Pederson keeps her form up.
The Danish star hit a stunning hole-in-one on the par-three 12th at Finca Cortes in Andalusia, Spain – becoming just the second woman to do so in the competition's 33-year history. Her pinpoint 178-yard drive landed perfectly at the tip of the green before turning, rolling down the bank and sinking in the cup, sparking jubilant scenes back at the tee.
Golf fans swarmed to social media to lavish the 27-year-old with praise, with some even labelling her swing "the most beautiful" they'd ever seen. "Absolutely incredible from Emily," one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

"The most beautiful swing," said another viewer, with others labelling her shot "crazy" and "incredible". A third commented: "Nice ace, but wow what a swing. Absolute butter."
A fifth added: "Sweet strike that, effortless swing," while a sixth wrote: "Can't stop watching that swing", and another said: "Beautiful shot from an equally-beautiful player."

Europe were 4-0 down to USA at the time after a clean sweep in the morning foursomes, but Pederson's hole-in-one at the start of the afternoon four-ball appeared to spark something of a fightback. Just 10 minutes later, her Swedish team-mate Linn Grant came to within inches of repeating the feat on the same hole with an almost identical shot.

USA are desperate to avoid three-successive Solheim Cup defeats, having lost 15-13 on home turf in 2021 and 14.5-13.5 in Scotland in 2019. Pederson's rejuvenating ace helped narrow the deficit, with Europe clawing their way back to 5-3 by the end of the first day.
