- Chimaev amusingly misunderstood the ‘smash or pass’ game in an interview
Khamzat Chimaev found himself the victim of the joke as he underwent an interview ahead of his long-awaited return to the octagon on Saturday night.
Chimaev, who holds a perfect 12-0 record in mixed martial arts, faces Kamaru Usman in the co-main event of UFC 294 on Saturday night.
Former welterweight champion Usman is a late replacement for the injured Paulo Costa but most fans would argue that this is a bigger and better fight.
Ahead of the bout, Chechen Chimaev sat down with social media influencer Nina-Marie Daniele, who couldn’t resist an opportunity to take advantage of the language barrier.
The interviewer had Chimaev play the ‘smash or pass’ game, which usually involves the player revealing who they would and wouldn’t want to have intimate relations with.

However, Chimaev was told that the term ‘smash’ referred to smashing someone in the cage.
Daniele proceeded to list a series of middleweights such as Sean Strickland, Israel Adesnaya and Costa and couldn’t hide her amusement as Chimaev said he would smash all of them.
Chimaev’s misunderstanding of the game was clear as he went on to talk about how much money he could make from those potential fights.
‘So much money,’ he went on. ‘Imagine I fight all of these guys. Crazy. Seven fights is almost $20 million.’
