Tyson Fury’s dad, John Fury, only wants to see the WBC heavyweight champion take on Oleksandr Usyk in his next bout, while he slammed Deontay Wilder for lacking class after his defeat.
The Gypsy King survived two knockdowns in the fourth round of his trilogy fight to emerge victorious in another all-time classic in Las Vegas, eventually stopping his American opponent with a brutal knockout in the 11th round.
Fury’s next opponent is still up in the air, with the WBC giving him 30 days to agree an undisputed fight with Usyk – which is unlikely to happen after Anthony Joshua triggered his rematch clause.
Instead, the WBC is set to order a fight against mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte if the Brit beats Otto Wallin later this month, though Fury’s father John is not interested in that match-up.
‘He’s gotta go look for Usyk or nothing, in my idea,’ he told talkSPORT. ‘It’s Usyk next, or nothing.
‘I wouldn’t bother with the rest of them, they’re not in Tyson’s class.
‘Would Dillian Whyte deal with Deontay Wilder? No. So why would they wanna put him in with my son and get him knocked out?
‘Tyson can’t get up for them kind of fights. For me, I’ve told him, Usyk or don’t bother.’
After Saturday night’s fight the lineal champ went over to Wilder to shake hands but the Bronze Bomber refused his gesture, saying he did not ‘respect’ him, and Fury senior was livid with his behaviour.
He continued: ‘His behaviour, Wilder, before and after – it would make anybody’s blood boil, wouldn’t it?
‘As a man like I am, if you get beat by the better man you say, “Put our differences to one side, well done.”
‘For my money, he tarnished his performance, Wilder. It was a great performance, not knocking it, he fought his heart out, he fought like a warrior.
‘But his behaviour at the end just let him down totally. You don’t behave like that. They’ve just fought their hearts out, beat each other to pieces, you’d think they’d show a bit of consideration for one another.
‘My son did because that’s how I’ve brought him up. But obviously in Wilder’s case – I don’t know what the man’s made of to be honest with you. He’s obviously from different cloth altogether.’
