A money-spinning crossover fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Floyd Mayweather appears to be a step closer after the MMA star met Russian boxing chiefs for discussions over a potential showdown in Moscow.
Khabib called out the former five-weight world champion in the wake of his victory over Conor McGregor in Las Vegas earlier this month.
Now the MMA star has teased supporters by revealing that he has held talks with both Mayweather and boxing chiefs, who believe they can attract 100,000 fans to the Luzhniki Stadium and break all-time Pay-Per-View records.

‘A meeting with the Secretary General of the Russian Boxing Federation took place today @umar_kremlev,’ Khabib wrote on Instagram on Tuesday.
‘We discussed the fight with Mayweather. We want the fight to take place in Moscow at the legendary Luzhniki Stadium. They are sure that we will gather 100,000 spectators, and also set a world record for the sale of Pay-Per-Views.
‘And, most importantly, my father will be in the corner; a visa to Moscow is not needed.

Mayweather, meanwhile, has not fought since stopping McGregor at the T-Mobile Arena
‘And so a question for my fans: do you believe in me? Or do you also think that he will knock me out of boxing?’
Mayweather, 41, has not fought since retiring in the wake of his own victory over McGregor in Las Vegas back in August 2017. That fight failed to break PPV records, with Mayweather’s 2015 win over Manny Pacquiao still the richest fight in history.
‘Money’ has never fought outside of America but he has talked up the likelihood of him of fighting Khabib before taking on McGregor in a rematch.
‘McGregor was talking that s***, so it ain’t over,’ Mayweather said recently. ‘After me and Khabib lock up, me and McGregor we gonna lock up again.’
