Boxing fans have blast the judges’ scorecards after Katie Taylor regained the light-welterweight title by defeating Chantelle Cameron – with some calling them ‘atrocious’ and ‘the worst they have ever seen’.
After an epic fight that went the distance, Taylor won via majority decision to become undisputed super-lightweight champion – avenging her loss from May – in front of 13,000 fans at Dublin’s 3 Arena.
However, despite the Bray Bomber edging the contest, eyebrows were raised at the scorecards that each told a different story of what happened.
The vastly different scores saw one judge score the fight with a justified 96-94 in Taylor’s favour, another judge scoring it all square with a 95-95 result, while the third saw the winner much more dominant by giving it 98-92 in the new champion’s favour.
Upon seeing the scores, fans vented their displeasure with the results and questioned how they could vary so much.

How the judges scorecards looks after the fight and each scored the bout rather differently
‘Atrocious scorecards as to be expected. What is the point?’ One blunt post read, aimed squarely at the result of the three judges.
Equally as scathing was another fan’s view, who didn’t hold back on seeing how one of the judges scored the fight.
‘I think 98 – 92 Taylor may genuinely be one of the worst scorecards I’ve ever seen in the sport,’ they said.
The displeasure continued to flow across social media and another account called the scores ‘scandalous’ and questioned what it does for the sport.
‘After an incredible fight, it is such a shame that the scorecards were all over the place.’ Read the post on X.
Fans were not happy with the final scores and took to social media to air their views on it
‘No way you can score that bout 98-92 in favour of Katie Taylor. A scandalous scorecard that does boxing no favours.’
The victory was redemption for the 37-year-old, who had lost on her first homecoming earlier this year, and was clearly emotional upon winning back her title.
She took a lap of honour around the ring after her win and fist pumped the air, before bursting into tears as she addressed the Dublin crowd.
Taylor said: ‘Oh my gosh. two weight undisputed champion, that sounds very nice! That was the longest six months of my life waiting. This is my real homecoming.
Taylor defied all of the odds and beat Cameron to become a three-division world champion
‘Whoever wrote me off doesn’t know very well. Don’t ever doubt me. The last fight you saw the worst of me and the best of Chantelle and it was still a close fight. Tonight you saw the real me and nobody can beat me.
‘Let’s get the triolgoy at Croke Park!’
Taylor went on to speak about Cameron, she said: ‘It takes two to tango. Chantelle is a phenomenal champion and deserves everything she gets.
‘She’s a legend herself. Two legends could form the first trilogy in women’s boxing,’ Taylor adds.
‘You learn the most from your losses. That’s where growth happens. Just go again, never give up.’
