Eddie Hearn has fired back at Andre Ward over his apparent objection to a heavyweight showdown between Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte.

Fury came out on top in his trilogy bout with Deontay Wilder at the weekend, knocking the American out in the 11th round of a heavyweight classic in Las Vegas.

He was forced to pull himself off the canvas twice on the night, before demonstrating his tremendous powers of recovery by going on and putting Wilder down to the point of no return.

Now the Gypsy King will have to defend his WBC title against either Whyte or Otto Wallin, who are set to battle it out to become mandatory challenger for the strap on October 30.

While it is certainly no foregone conclusion, Whyte will be expected to prevail and set up an all-British clash with Fury early next year.

Hearn, Whyte's long-time promoter, is desperate to make that match-up and even claimed in an interview with iFL TV that it would sell out a stadium in the UK.

"As fans, we should be calling for Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte," the Matchroom chief said.

"Imagine the build-up, imagine the fight. It does well over a million PPV buys, sells out a stadium. That is the fight. The winner fights the winner of Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua II."

However, Ward clearly doesn't agree with Hearn on the matter.

The former two-weight world champion quote tweeted a post with those quotes and simply said: "Eddie, stop it."

Hearn then hit straight back and replied: "With AJ confirmed rematching Usyk, name a better bigger fight?"

Joshua activated his rematch clause with Usyk, who outclassed him to become the new unified heavyweight champion on September 25, at the weekend.
