Donald Trump brags about ‘obscene money’ he will earn Evander Holyfield fight

Donald Trump has boasted about the "obscene" money he will earn after the former US President was chosen to provide commentary for Evander Holyfield's comeback fight on Saturday night.

Trump and his son, Donald Jr, will be ringside in Florida as 58-year-old former heavyweight champion Holyfield boxes MMA veteran Vitor Belfort, 44. The 'real deal' has stepped in as a replacement for Oscar De La Hoya after the latter's planned return was scuppered by a positive test for Covid-19.

Also on the undercard is David Haye, 40, who himself ends a three-year exile from the ring to take on Joe Fournier.

And the controversial Trump, 75, has been selected with his son by Triller to provide 'alternate' commentary, and his services aren't coming cheap.

He's reportedly been bragging about being offered an "obscene" sum for his involvement, and although the exact figure has not been confirmed it is believed to equate to millions of dollars.

Furthermore, despite Trump's home in West Palm Beach being relatively close to the fight's venue in Hollywood, Triller have provided him with the use of a G-5 jet to transport him to the fight.

Many have accused the American social networking service of desperation, hoping Trump's presence will compensate for the withdrawal of 'golden boy' De La Hoya, 48, who was said to be in terrific shape as he prepared for a first fight since 2008.

Regardless, Trump seems to be relishing his involvement, and at a promotional event this week took a dig at Joe Biden, the man who succeeded him as US President.

When asked who is ideal boxing opponent would be he replied: “Well if I had to pick somebody in the world, not only a professional boxer because I’ll take a pass on the professional boxers – that can be a very dangerous subject.

“I think probably my easiest fight would be Joe Biden because I think he’d go down very, very quickly.”
