Aaron Chalmers opened up on his retirement plans after being brutally beaten by Idris Virgo at Misfits Boxing 009.
The former Geordie Shore star topped the bill in Newcastle but there was to be no hometown victory as Virgo stopped him in the third round. The Love Island star sent Chalmers crashing to the canvas and although he bravely rose to his feet, his corner had seen enough and threw the towel in.
The crushing defeat, just months after taking Floyd Mayweather the distance in an exhibition bout, has left Chalmers contemplating his future in the ring. Asked about the prospect of rematch, Chalmers said: “I’ve got about a year left.

“He’s going to go on and do his thing. Before I retire, we’ll run it back. I’m going to retire on Misfits. I’ve got about 12 to 18 months [left in boxing] but we’ll definitely run it back. Maybe the retirement fight. See if I can get the win back.”
There had been bad blood between the pair in the build-up, but that was all forgotten after the fight. Chalmers said: “We had a lot of back and forth in the build-up, I was trying to get inside his head but you don’t go 14-0 if you’re not good, so fair play. I stepped up, I failed, but I’ll be back.”

As for Virgo, he called out two of the biggest names in boxing after his win, plus social media star Salt Papi. He declared: “I would say Floyd [Mayweather] or Carl Froch, any of the big top dogs, even Salt Papi.”
Papi will be in action in Manchester on October 14 when he faces Slim Albaher. The stacked Prime card will also see KSI take on Tommy Fury and Logan Paul face off against Dillon Danis.
