Gonzaga forward Killian Tillie suffers stress fracture in ankle, expected to miss about 8 weeks

Gonzaga will be without one of its best players for a significant portion of its schedule.

Bulldogs forward Killian Tillie recently suffered a stress fracture in his ankle during practice, the school announced Tuesday. He is expected to miss about eight weeks.

Tillie started 35 games for a Gonzaga team that went 32-5 and reached the Sweet 16 a season ago. He averaged 12.9 points and 5.9 rebounds per contest.

The junior can score from all over the floor and he creates driving lanes for his teammates, as he shot 47.9 percent from 3-point range in 2018-19.

The Bulldogs, however, have depth at the position. Star forward Rui Hachimura will be back in their lineup and they will add Brandon Clarke, who was an All-Mountain West player at San Jose State before he transferred into the program and redshirted in 2017-18.

Gonzaga will open the regular season Nov. 6 against Idaho State.
