England’s players will not have their security detail altered despite a man being shot dead near their Port of Spain hotel.
The incident happened on the same road as their Hyatt Regency base in Trinidad, early on Monday morning, hours after they checked in for the final two matches of their white ball tour of the Caribbean.
A team spokesman said nothing had changed, as the team had already been advised not to venture outside of their accommodation due to the Caribbean country’s high crime rate.
The players will not leave the Hyatt Regency except for their two scheduled matches – one on Tuesday and the Twenty20 series finale on Thursday – plus a prearranged round of golf in between.
Locals reports suggested a 47-year-old man was murdered at around 1.20am on Monday on Wrightson Road.
Trinidad & Tobago has the sixth highest crime rate in the world.
