MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli hailed Ravindra Jadeja after the India all-rounder starred with bat and ball to help Chennai Super Kings thrash Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League.
Jadeja smashed an unbeaten 62 from 28 balls – including nine boundaries – to propel Chennai to 191-4 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
The 32-year-old then took 3-13 from four overs and produced a brilliant run out as Bangalore made 122-9 from their 20 overs.
Jadeja dismissed Washington Sundar, Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers during his spell and Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Kohli said his team were ‘probably beaten by one guy’.
‘Jaddu displayed his skills and took the game away from us,’ Kohli said. ‘You can probably say one guy beat us.
‘I am very happy to see him perform with the bat, ball and on the field. Always a pleasure to see your premier all-rounder do well with the bat.’
Chennai skipper Dhoni added: ‘Jaddu is somebody who can change the game on his own.
‘In the last few years we’ve seen significant change in batting and it’s worth it to give him that extra bit of time, extra deliveries.’
Asked whether he has enjoyed a better day on a cricket field, Jadeja said: ‘I don’t think so. I’ve been working hard on my fitness, skill, everything. Luckily it paid off.
‘It’s a tough job being an all-rounder, you have to do all departments. During training I don’t work on all three, I do skill work one day, training one day, fitness one day. I was just looking to hit it hard.’
