Stone Cold Steve Austin returns to Raw, says Madison Square Garden crowd is a tough one to break

Stone Cold Steve Austin came out to open up Monday Night Raw and his goal was to moderate the contract signing between Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman.

Raw took place at Madison Square Garden and before the event, Austin spoke to Sports Illustrated about performing at Madison Square Garden, calling it a tough crowd that wrestlers have to win over.

“If you win them over, you’ve really done something,” Austin said. “It’s a crowd that you’ve got to work really hard for to earn their respect, and I love that about that building.”

Steve Austin proved on Monday Night Raw that he had won them over when he had the crowd eating out of his hands the entire time he was in the ring.

Austin had Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins come out and both men signed the contracts, but not before Strowman pulled out the “can of whup-ass” that Austin popularized back in the day.

The fans loved it, as they did with everything that Austin had to say. As a matter of fact, Austin was so popular that even AJ Styles, who has been getting cheered over Rollins and Strowman got booed and called an “a**hole.”

“Walking through those doors at the Garden is still special for me,” Austin said in his SI interview. “That’s the WWE’s backyard. Even though they’ve been away for a couple of years, that’s a very special building to Vince. Some of my most iconic moments happened at the Garden.”

The fans at Madison Square Garden got more than they expected from Stone Cold Steve Austin.

AJ Styles came out and talked smack to Austin, calling him an “old fart” and saying people don’t care about him anymore. That was far from the truth and the second that Austin hit the Stone Cold Stunner on Styles, he blew the roof off the building.
