CLEVELAND — Los Angeles Angels All-Stars Mike Trout and Tommy La Stella are wearing the No. 45 in Tuesday night's Midsummer Classic, honoring their late teammate Tyler Skaggs, who passed away on July 1.
Trout had said Monday that he and La Stella were considering doing something special for Skaggs in Tuesday's game, and ultimately decided to wear his jersey number.
“We thought it would be a good way to show some love and respect for Tyler,” Trout said Tuesday, per the Los Angeles Times. “That's going to be fun for me, it's gonna be good for him, good for his family. And I know he is looking out over us tonight. It's gonna be good.”

La Stella is injured, but the first-time All-Star has been in Cleveland for the week's festivities.
“It still doesn’t feel real. And we’re not going to stop missing Tyler. He was an unbelievable person, one of our leaders, somebody we loved," La Stella said Monday.
“It doesn’t really feel real, and I don’t think it will for a while.”
Nationals pitcher Patrick Corbin, a teammate of Skaggs' in Arizona, also wore a No. 45 jersey during his start the day after Skaggs' passing.
